MEDIA INFLUENCE ON KIDS

Media , be it any form , TV , Press of the Radio  helps me in staying connected with the world . If you come to it the latest to the bizarre happening around the world can be watched in a fraction of second.. I am  happy with it because I have seen media evolving itself from my school days till now , when media was just taking baby steps .

Today it’s a fully grown entity , growing bigger and bigger day after day , be it competition or trying to reach out to its viewers first , but honestly , I have had my share of the the good  kids zone which was a boon .

I would take for example Malgudi Days ,by R K Narayan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9koiLyUQFI, , I remember connecting  with Swami so much , his innocence , his smile would make all the kids smile, there was no craze of the reality show , children could just watch swami any time . It was just a pure pleasure in connecting to a child who had to face the same worries  and having same fun with all his friends .

There was a  story with which I could connect  while I was . Media helped in depicting the issues that we faced after partition in an excellent way through Buniyaad , sorry for the bad quality of this video , but this is just to bring back the old memory.

I mean I could jus go on and on , I am sure many of your would remember the ek chidiya –anek Chidiya on doordarshan, I remember singing it all the time , and I used to wait for this come again and again

After seeing all these videos I want you to check this and tell me what are we actually contributing for a better India http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgkYXPJj1-M

I want to apologise to all the readers for a posting a little late since I have been working on Kids yoga , helping kids to have fun through yoga , and helping them to cope up with stress, eating right and sleeping at the right time ., helping them to deal with worries they would face in their age. Its time we channelise their energy to the right direction .

WHEN THE WEST HAS TAKEN YOGA AS ONE OF THE MAIN TOPICS IN THE DEVELOPMEN OF THEIR FUTURE , WE TOO NEED TO GET INTO ACTION I AM DOING MY BIT !!! ARE U ???

Try a Camel Pose-Ushtrasana

Hello ,  My ardent Yoga freaks and followers . I am continuing with my topic with the asanas that help in proper digestion , reducing fat near the pelvic region and massaging your neck muscles kicking off all those problems related to thyroid . I could just think Of one and only the Camel Pose or Ushtrasana. “Ushtra” refers to ‘camel’ in Sanskrit. In this yoga pose the practitioner’s body resembles a camel, hence the name.
After doing the Camel Pose, you can feel the stretch in the spinal chord, neck, abdomen, and on the shoulders. The camel pose focuses on Vishudhi Chakra and Svadhishthan.
Benefits of Camel Pose:
  • This posture is supposed to be good for the reproductive system and the digestive system.
  • The posture stretches the intestines and the stomach.
  • The camel posture is good for curing constipation.
  • The backward bending loosens up and stretches the vertebrae, and stimulates the nerves of   the spine.
  • This posture is good for those with drooping shoulders and a rounded back. It helps them   improve their posture.
  • Camel pose is good for relieving back pain.
  • It also stretches the neck and regulates the thyroid gland.
  • This posture is not recommended for those with severe back pain, heart problems and high blood pressure.
Go Ahead try it :D

Trafiic Jam in your stomach

Namaskar to all the yogic maniacs out there, I would like to apologise for a late entry of this blog , since I have been taking back to back sessions of Yoga to all those people who have been curious and learn more about this amazing science . Yes!!!! I would say It’s a science that helps people in curing their ailments with its amazing powers .I was wondering what needs to be discussed in the blog this time .
Today’s life style  makes us prone to all kinds of food habits . Children , The middle age and the old age all fall to this so called Lifestyle of either ordering food from those newly opened exquisite restaurants or the The Mac’donald cult which attracts people of all generations . So our poor stomach goes through all that misery  for all that goes inside the human body. I have discussed with many about the food habits and people are more or less on the denial mode since they believe they get to taste the best from the place , some say “Hey we are young and if we don’t eat yummy food now , when will we eat , after we are 70 “very much in a mocking manner , Some of the  varied reactions are  we cannot resist the good food  , some say  We are the cool crowd nothings gonna happen to us , some try to avoid the topic majorly ha ha ha, and some people like me who hate it .
So what do we do to actually help the stomach in digesting what I would say the cult food these days in a proper manner? Asanas that can help in proper digestion
1.        Vajrasana  2)Bhujangasana 3)Makarasana  4)PavanMuktasana 5)Kapal Bhathi 6)Paschimottasana

In my earlier feature since I focused on the Asanas for Spine , I am dedicating this blog of mine to these asanas for the pelvic region and which can be extremely beneficial to all those who feel  heavy and miserable after their food  from those yummy restaurants and food outlets .
I would end my note with a good natural tip Vegetable soup, pomegranate , apple are excellent for digestion . As  I believe  strongly ,  a gift from nature always helps us in one way or the other , Its just that we realize it very late .

Fell Sick -Mother Nature to the rescue

I just realised one thing, once you fall ill , everything goes off routine .Our daily activity goes haywire. We tend to coil ourself on the bed all the time , and keep taking in those tons and tons of medicines which are bitter , and tastes yuck .

We then tend to dissect what we ate that resulted in such kind of a situation .I am happy that once upon a time , I was one of those common people who went through the same trauma.I had to come to terms with what was i doing with my body.

I was one person who used to love junk food completely.I loved having burgers , pizzas and french fries like any other teenager thinking it was just ok , because i was young and would workout all the time , so no worries. Little did i realise that , the junk food in the weekends, the ones at Mcdonald or Pizza hut , i used to feel really heavy , sick and could feel all the slimy cream and the potato fries laughing inside my stomach plus the coke sodas acted as a deadly poison.I would at the end switch to a fruit which would relieve me from all that misery from the junk. It was an indication from mother nature saying that Even if you think wise , you are not , at the end of the day you have to come to my  rescue.

Mother nature has helped us a lot in making us realise that we need to look back at her if we need to survive , not just the fruits and the lovely nectar that she gives back to us but also her children in the forests who in a way explains to us how well can we maintain ourselves.

Shocked !!!! True . Each and every pose or an asana has been derived from animals .Whether it is Shashakasana -Rabbit Pose , Shalabhasana -Locust Pose,Bhujangasana -Cobra Pose or Tadasana or the Palm Tree pose .When I tried each of these asanas I was in a way connected to nature making me understand that she actually knows me and helps me in connecting to myself , my body better. It shook me to take away the bad energy in me which was the main reason of creating problems to my body , as if mother nature was herself giving it a clear warning saying STAY AWAY FROM MY CHILD

SPINAL CORD KE LIYE KUCH BHI KAREGA(Anything for the Spine):

I just love reading about the exotic places in India. I am so happy that I could visit most of these precious gems. Every section if I can say of India has its own unique fragrance and why not???? India is a country filled with vibrant colors, be it the silent yet beautiful deserts of Rajasthan, the very colorful Delhi or the detailed temples of Tamil nadu and Karnataka or the lovely backwaters in kerala. In between all this interesting reading , what caught my attention was about Meru Parbat, the highest peak in the Himalayas . Meru Parbat is supposed to be the highest mountain in the world and by nature grows little every day .Somehow Yoga derives a lot from nature and connects it with the human body in a beautiful way. They say all the things seen in the universe –mountains, rivers exist in the human body also. Surprised ha-ha, Thought of taking up one very important connection the MERUDAND or the SPINAL CORD.

Now now coming back to reality, it all looks very nice to imagine the exuberant, beautiful places in India, but when you get back from wonders of India; you do see the piles of paper work in office with the Boss sitting on it saying reach HELLO DEAR, do not think of even moving from that damn white screen till you finish off everything. The agony begins after that Overtime, loads of coffee, discussions, and a chair that becomes a hot seat ready to explode anytime .That was the description about what was happening in the outside world but what about the inner world people. We neglect the very important axis of our body, our spine which goes through the complete torture trying to fight tough being with you all the time but in such kind of a scenario it tends to give up. Most of the Office goers face this situation one day or the other, or for some people its an every day affair.

I have thought of putting across the Yoga scheduler for the week in my next write up for the entire tortured and traumatized spine out there. I have put some poses which are simple and active enough make your spine become happy and back in action to help you fight back again with the baddies he he…

yogini from the metroland

It’s been long that I wanted to write about something which has made my life chirpier more focused. Sometimes living in a metropolitan city tends to take out a lot of energy from you, especially if you are from Mumbai it takes a lot to gear up, to fight with your self for some space.. at home be it your favorite channel, for a seat while travelling or if you are not lucky enough on that then praying to god to send that ultimate space shuttle UFO inside the bus or train who could rescue and help you reach the office way before your boss reaches and the same space shuttle to help you reach back home or again keeping your fingers crossed so that your boss doesn’t want you to stay back to meet a deadline.I am sure many of the folks who are reading this could connect in some way or the other. I realized that many a times folks do not realize that being in the rat race takes away half of your age.

So what’s that one thing that makes you ticking for the ultimate goal? Is it possible for every one to just cling on to the balance? As a matter of fact being a metropolitan bug I too fell for it. Being an Hr consultant sitting in front of the white screen for 6 hours running for meeting s, reaching out to employees, looking out for that twinkle in the eye of your boss when you are the best performer or hiding your face under the table if an employee wants to talk about policies and norms of the company for which you cannot just do anything about it because we all know that BOSS IS ALWAYS RIGHT.

ThenWhy Yoga? I ask myself a lot of times. To me Yoga is a definition for life … naah it’s a discipline or is it an ongoing trend. Finally I gear up opening my word document, all set to write about yoga, well all said and done what do I know about Yoga???Practicing every day for 2 hrs does that mean I know about dhanurasana , or pranayam really well .

I have interacted with a lot of yoga instructors, teachers . When I look at them, I see eternal bliss radiance on their face, calm and composed life. So why do we need to inculcate it in our life? With my experience to bring a lot of discipline in our not so happening lives. We are all very lucky , infact very very lucky

God has gifted us with an amazing body but how much do we explore into ourselves none. Our body has amazing powers or you can say healing powers. How do you get to know about it? That doesn’t mean you start doing a couple of warrior poses at one the first shot. Step by Step approach to Yoga helps you get closer to it. The Breathing exercises, the backward bending poses, the front bending poses helps us to know more about our body and the true signifance behind every action.

Since it’s the 15th of August , I would say I am proud be to an Indian yogi maniac, I am a happy to be born in the land of the very knowledgeable yogi rishi patanjali, Yog rishi Charak.I am glad that my yogic mind could pen down my thoughts and start my blog . Till then I yell my super super powerful lungs out saying BHARAT MATA KI JAI!!!!!!!!!
