Golden Excuses for not practising Yoga at home busted

Excuses Busted

1. I don’t have time.

There are times in life where you feel layed back and you don’t think you have time. But these are generally the times you need to practice the most. You don’t have to spend more than 10 minutes practicing. Set an alarm, do 10 minutes on your mat, and walk away.

2. I start, and then I don’t know what I am doing.

Self-practice is not about mimicking your teachers hour long session. Choose a short and digestible amount—be it your own short program of asanas or a something specific your teacher has set for you, and do 10 minutes.  It’s a physical thing, . Move. Feel and breathe. That is all.

 3. I can just go to a class.

Yes, you can, and classes are valuable. But the best part is when your teacher teaches you, and you practice. Through self-practice you digest what you have done in class, and meet and overcome new blockages..

4. I don’t get the same effect of self-practice as a class.

What motivates you about the class? Practicing in a space designated for classes is a real treat. Plus, you can really be energized and inspired by your fellow students.

5. It’s too hard.

Many of my clients come to me saying  Rajashri  Please this is too hard , it hurts , it aches  , we are not comng to the class for the next 2 days but my whole point is Nothing that is worth having in life comes easily. If it were easy, would you be so interested? So, go for it—you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Start your self-practice today!

Back from my sabbatical :Its all upon how you look at it baby!!!!!

I so wanted to be back on blog since a long time but was wondering what is the topic I should be covering in Yoga as the subject is so interesting and so huge . After my little baby Avantika was born and with the changes that women undergo physically and emotionally , thought to cover a little about this important topic on the blog as well as giving some important tips to all those women who feel that a Size Zero trend can do great for them in the recent times .
The Topic of Size Zero followed by the heroines and the generation Y lately shocked me when recently I went to meet across a very dear friend of mine , it was raining and  thought to meet up my old friend from my building for a cuppa chai and pakodas, but reluctance of my friend to have the adrak chai and pakodas shocked me , reason Pakodas are reason for putting on and tea would cause acidity.
Pheww!!!! I was so disappointed . I was wondering why are people really aware of things , before they come to any conclusions. During the rains , our immunity level  is very low and our body is prone to all the infections , adrak , that’s ginger helps fight infections along with food of trans fat oil , like a pakoda making body more resistant to diseases .
After delivery I was down physically and emotionally as your hormones play with you a bad game , trust me it still does , I kept on wondering how do I get out of this post delivery syndrome … that’s what I call it , when my trainer who is  in to power yoga now called me , she told me to just make it to one session to challenge myself again .With a baby on one side and a physically drained out body , I just kept thinking how the hell can I come out of this cobweb , and the negativity acting like a spider .
1 session of surya namaskar with a static and a dynamic position healed me , removed the entangled cobwebs , spread the power and warmth of sun god all over me ha ha from that time onwards  I just live yoga , I breath Yoga

So you think you are Anna , right I am talking about all those people who follow him in his journey . A strong man , a great vision , a true warrior , so how many of us are true warriors ,Yes I would like to adress this to all the blog followers who still feel working out a day and then resting for two days helps your body regain everything you lost.
Why not inculcate Yoga in your daily life the way you get up in the morning and brush your teeth

.Yoga gives you a wide range of asanas , that help you develop that inner power, confidence and making you ready to deal with the world , the way you want to.Each asana is shaped in such a way that it brings out the ultimate energy you wish to .
My pick for today is Virabhadrasana
So before you start Virabhadrasana or the Warrior Pose , close your eyes for a second and bring that stretch . Trust me at the end of the asana , you will have that WOW factor in you, Each asana in Yoga helps you to stretch and mould your body, but remember one thing , only if your start doing it , you will feel the satisfaction coming in you every day.
Virabhadrasana is not the pose of an anonymous warrior, it's the pose of Virabhadra, the "auspicious hero" born from a bead of sweat from Lord Shiva's forehead.

Here's what Dr. Robert Svoboda has to say (in his wonderful book The Greatness of Saturn) about Virabhadra:
"No sooner did this drop of sweat fall to Earth than it became a fiery being of unlimited valor who, after blazing his way through the earth and through all the underworlds, burnt the seven seas. This being, Virabhadra ('the Auspicious Hero') looked like a flaming fire, having many heads and many eyes, and tens of thousands of arms and legs. The embodiment of concentrated might, Virabhadra stood before his father with folded hands, saying, 'Command me!'"
The form of Virabhadrasana present the expressions of this powerful hero. Next time you perform one of the Virabhadrasanas, imagine yourself capable of anything that needs to be accomplished -- because you are
Procedure
• Stand with feet together, spine and head held straight and arms by side close to body.
• Separate the legs 4 to 5feet distance.
• Raise arms sideways in line with shoulders, palms facing downwards and parallel to the floor.
• Turn the right foot 90 degrees to the right and left foot slightly inwards to the right. Keep the left leg stretched out and tightened at the knee.
• Hold the pose and take deep breath, relax you whole body in position.
• Now exhale, bend the right knee till the right thigh is parallel to the floor and the right shin perpendicular to the floor. The bend knee should not extend beyond the ankle, but should be in line with the heel.
• Turn the face to the right and gaze at the right palm.

• Hold the pose for 20-30 seconds with deep breathing.
• Release the pose lifting up the body and straightening the knee.
• Repeat the same on left leg.

SO DO YOU HAVE THE WARRIOR IN YOU!!!!!!!

IS IT JUNK OR HEALTHY>>>

Whats the promise you are giving to your body TODAY , I am serious , very serious ,with the alarming rate of increase in crappy food outlets , I get scared , really scared , i wonder whats gonna happen to this lovely body gifted to us , which we treat as some Garbage Can to throw all the junk which these junk food outlet owners want to eat.Its even more horrifying with parents taking the children to these outlets once in every week, STOP , please before it gets too late to repent , Just checked an article thought of posting it to you guys

What’s in Some of that Junk Food?

  • One teaspoon of sugar is extracted from a stalk of sugarcane one metre in length!
  • A can of cola contains 10 teaspoons of sugar.
  • The metal in the can costs more than the ingredients (mainly water with additives, refined sugar and caffeine).
  • A super-sized order of McDonald’s fries contains 610 calories and 29 grams of fat.
  • A king-sized order of Burger King’s fries packs 590 calories and 30 grams of fat.
  • Artificial ingredients can contain an alarming variety of chemicals. For instance, ‘artificial strawberry flavour’ can contain about 50 chemicals… and no strawberries at all!
  • A king-sized Burger King meal, (Double Whopper with cheese, large fries and large drink) contains 1,800 calories (mostly derived from fat and refined sugar). To ‘burn’ these calories would take nearly 6 hours of cycling (at 20 miles per hour).

Harmful Effects of Junk Food

  • The regular consumption of junk food is the leading factor in obesity and excess weight.
  • Obesity is second only to smoking as a cause of death in America.
  • 46% of adults are either overweight or obese, with obesity in children increasing three-fold over the past 2 decades.
  • Consumption of soft drinks containing sugar has been linked to weight gain and an increased risk for development of type 2 diabetes.
  • Studies have revealed that obese people have twice the rate of chronic health problems as people of normal weight. This includes a 100% greater chance of developing Type 2 diabetes, 50% increased likelihood of developing heart disease. Obese men are nearly 90% more likely to get colon cancer.
  • Junk food diet is a major cause of heart diseases.
  • High cholesterol resulting from junk food puts undue strain on the liver, causing long-term damage to this essential organ.
  • Research has suggested that diets high in fat may also impair essential brain functions, like concentration and memory.
The junk food facts about soft drinks alone are alarming. There is compelling evidence that regular        consumption of soft drinks leads to:
  • Increased rates of bone fracture
  • Increased risk for osteoporosis
  • Increased risk of weight gain and obesity
  • Increased risk for Type II Diabetes
  • Increased risk for kidney stones
  • Increased rate of tooth decay and other dental problems
Junk food facts are numerous, and the negative effect of junk food on health and wellbeing is undeniable.
